Whilst public courses work well for the majority of children, private sessions can be useful where a more intensive focus and/or slightly longer duration are likely to be needed. Children with special educational needs often (but not always) benefit from private sessions. Adult learn to balance and ride sessions are always run as private sessions.
Learn to Balance and Ride (L2BR) and Developing Better Bike Control (DBBC) sessions are now run at Skyswood Primary School, Chandlers Road, Marshalswick, St Albans. AL4 9RS. Google Maps, Map of Chandlers Road, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, AL4 (streetmap.co.uk)
I provide the balance bike(s) and lightweight pedal bike(s) and can also provide helmets if required. These are included in the tuition fees below. Sessions are 75 minutes long.
Tuition fees for St Albans-based courses are as follows:
1 child (or adult) – £46
2 children – £78
Second sessions, if required, cost £42 for one child, £70 for two and £92 for three.
3 children – £105
Please note: There is also a £10 charge per session for hire of the playground which I pass on at cost..
On-road (Bikeability) training
On-road training is generally best delivered close to where the riding is actually likely to take place. A plan is agreed in advance which will take into account the existing level(s) of experience, the level you want to ride at by the end of the training and the numbers and ages of the trainees.
Sessions vary in length from 45 minutes to 105 minutes typically and can be for up to 4 people (5 if a family group with one adult participating and 6 if two adults are participating). Training costs £38 per hour excluding bike hire. Additional charges for travel may apply.
